Designing sites that are easy to maintain
[Home] [Pricing] [Experience] [Search Engines] [Contacting]As few sites stay the same for ever, I try to make a site as easy to maintain as possible. For example, I try to use Style Sheets as much as possible (thereby making it easy to, for example, change font information on all pages quickly).
Content Management
If you have content that is changing frequently, changing the HTML files can be a pain and costly. As a result, ActiveBrand have released their StockSphere system to help with this. This makes it easier to maintain your sites by providing a web interface to edit the content within your site. For more information, visit the StockSphere site.
Site Design
When writing with ASP, I try to use include files as much as possible, to define the general layout of the pages. In doing this, the HTML to define the header etc. is only in one place, meaning wholesale layout changes can be made to the site quickly. For example, this is how this site is written, and when I add in new menus on the right menu bar, I only need to change one file, and all web pages have the new menu in. Simple.
