Services offered

The Union provides following services to it's members:

  • Legal service. Advice is given on all matters relating to musical employment - and limited advice on other legal matters is available to members through the Trade Union law scheme.

  • Rates.  The Union negotiates fees with broadcasting, TV, film and video companies and the recording industry - in fact all the major employers of musicians in the country.  We also negotiate or set rates for every type of live engagement.

  • Money.  Our officials recover thousands of pounds owed to musicians every year.  If they should fail, then back-up can be provided by our legal department.

  • Contact advice.  A free advisory service on all contracts, including specialist vetting of complex recording, managing and publishing contracts, is available.

  • Career advice.  Comprehensive advice on all aspects of your career including personal interviews.

  • Insurance. Cover can be arranged for any value of instruments/equipment at competitive premiums.  The first £500 of value is free of charge regardless of whether coverage is required or not, subject to the instruments etc. being registered.  A 'musician friendly' motor policy is also available.

  • Public Liability Insurance.  Whilst performing - either solo or as a part of a group / band / orchestra - and/or whilst teaching in a public place or your home.  Limit of indemnity - £5 million.
